At one point there were over 900 men and 100 horses involved in the construction of the original railway line.

Waterford Greenway

The old railway line from Waterford City to Dungarvan when completed is a 46km of off-road cycling and walking trail which travels through time and nature across eleven bridges, three viaducts and through the atmospheric tunnel all the way from the river to the sea.

Along this route in Irelands Ancient East is a Viking settlement, Norman Castles, medieval ruins, a famine workhouse, an old railway stations and a heritage railway train still runs along part of the track at Suir Valley Railway.
Enjoy the breath taking scenery as you approach the Town of Dungarvan along the amazing coastline.  Bikes can be hired and this would make a great family day out. Please follow the Country Code and enjoy your beautiful journey
